Founded in 2022 by Joey and LeeAnn Slipher, Delta Bud Company is a family-owned and operated medical cannabis cultivator based in Southwest Mississippi. What began as a shared dream between husband and wife — both former police officers — has grown into a passion-driven business dedicated to delivering premium, Mississippi-grown medical marijuana to patients across the state.
The Delta Bud story is one of family, faith, and hard work. Joey and LeeAnn were born and raised in the Pike-Walthall area and have deep ties to the community. Beyond Delta Bud Company, they also operate several local businesses — including Southern Cash & Pawn, Slipher Law, and War Ponies Elite Paint Cowhorses — reflecting their entrepreneurial spirit and long-standing commitment to Mississippi values.
Their inspiration to start Delta Bud Company came from close friends and family members who found real relief through medical cannabis. Witnessing that transformation firsthand motivated the Sliphers to join Mississippi’s growing medical cannabis movement — with one clear mission: to grow medicine that matters, with integrity and care.
LeeAnn Slipher - Co/Owner, Founder, Chief Financial Officer
A practicing attorney and former detective, LeeAnn brings both precision and passion to her role at Delta Bud Company. Her journey from law enforcement to law practice to cannabis advocacy reflects a personal mission to help change public perception around medical marijuana. She’s deeply driven by the belief that Mississippi patients deserve access to safe, effective medicine cultivated right here at home.
Joey Slipher - Founder, General Manager
A lifelong Mississippian and successful business owner, Joey brings decades of leadership and hands-on experience to Delta Bud Company. From his early days in law enforcement to running multiple family ventures, Joey’s focus has always been on building trust, supporting his community, and leading with purpose. When he’s not managing operations, he can be found at the family’s horse farm in Tylertown — breeding and training elite paint cow horses with his family.
Spencer James - Head grower / director of cultivation
Born and raised in Ackerman, Mississippi, Spencer brings a strong agricultural background to Delta Bud Company. A graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Agronomy, Spencer’s expertise in crop management and plant science drives the quality and consistency of Delta Bud’s medical cannabis. Before joining the team in 2024, Spencer worked under some of the state’s top agronomists and cultivators — experience that now fuels his work producing some of the highest-quality flower in Mississippi. Spencer and his wife, Amber, recently welcomed their first child, Teddy James.
Grace slipher - operations manager / post-harvest
Grace, the Sliphers’ middle daughter, represents the next generation of Delta Bud leadership. After studying at Louisiana State University, Grace returned home to join the family business full-time in 2024. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills keep Delta Bud’s trimming, packaging, and logistics running smoothly — ensuring every product meets the company’s exacting standards. Outside of work, Grace competes in the National Reined Cow Horse Association and shares her parents’ love of horses.
